Keylite Launches solution for creative Flat Roof Window Design

Further increasing the design opportunities for specifiers and self builders, Keylite Roof Windows has launched a Flat Roof Apex (FRX) system to complement its innovative range of roof window solutions.

Historically associated with pitched roofs, the Keylite flat roof apex system now brings this same creative freedom to flat roof designs – making it perfect for a wide variety of new build, extension and refurbishment projects.  Available in single, double or triple window configurations, the system creates a highly desirable glazed atrium effect, flooding the room below in natural daylight.

John Duffin, Managing Director of Keylite, said: “As a sophisticated design statement, apex windows have always been a popular architectural feature for pitched roofs, but until recently the alternatives for flat roofs have been somewhat limited.  At Keylite, we believe that innovation and choice are key market drivers, so we wanted to re-dress the balance by developing a practical and attractive solution that would open up the design possibilities across a range of applications.”

The Keylite FRX system is supplied complete with roof windows, fully insulated up-stand and precision flashings, to enable quick and easy installation.  A number of glazing options are available to suit all build requirements, including Thermal Glazing, double glazing,  Hi-Therm Glazing and even Triple Glazing, which offers an extremely low U-value of just 0.7 w/m2k, as well as superior sound insulation.

Internally, the system offers a similar breadth of choice, with the roof windows available in either high-quality, FSC certified timber or a sleek white finish.  Ideal for kitchens, bathrooms or any room prone to dust or steam, the white finish roof windows benefit from a wipe-clean polyurethane painted finish that is resistant to moisture and requires little or no maintenance.

Similarly, the windows are available with an integral blind option, where the blind is permanently sealed within the double glazing unit, resulting in a totally dust free environment with no need for cleaning.  Both the roof windows and the integral blinds are available with a choice of manual or electric opening functions.
